Should have taken notes as I went along but anyway
A few thoughts that have stayed
- Easy entertaining read
- Plot a little predictable- what with an illegitimate daughter avenging her mother who was wronged at the hands of an elite family
- Reminiscent of Baazigar- elements of revenge against a family, anti-heroine
- But the book's highlight is its protagonist and narration, through and through
- Grace carries the weight of the story on her very able shoulders
- Her character - perfectly written
- Her sarcastic observations/observations commentary spare no one and nothing
- Capitalism, social media, patriarchy, performative feminism, performative socialism, education system, prison system, human nature
- How she keeps herself detached from everything else by maintaining a sense of superiority/disdain - all so she could devote all her energies towards carrying out her plan
- We get to know about other characters only through her perspective- though to her credit, she gives detailed background analysis of all the family members before offing them
- Laughed out loud at how she justified killing off her grandparents
- The schemes she devised to kill her uncle and Simon's wife- pretty interesting
- The end bothered me a little- the thing about a man taking undue advantage of all of Grace's efforts
- It was unsatisfying- would have loved to see her get away with all of it with her inheritance money
- This book is gatekeep, gaslight, girlboss personified
